When disabled people took to the streets to change the law

📢 Today when we rally HANDS OFF the programs and rights people with disabilities depend on, know that 48 years ago on April 5th, disability movement founders led the most prolonged non-violent occupation of a federal building in US History, and it changed the world! On April 5, 1977, disabled people organized to pass the federal 504 regulations that protect people with disabilities from discrimination. For almost half a decade, those protections allowed people with disabilities to survive and b
